Hope in Action: Responding to Crisis with Resilience and Impact
Date: Tuesday, December 17, 2024 | Time: 7:00 PM (GMT+2) | Online Event
Entrepreneurship in Crisis, and Moving Beyond Crisis
The current situation in Lebanon, Palestine and Syria is devastating. Communities face overwhelming challenges—displacement, economic collapse, and the ongoing toll of violence. Social enterprises and local changemakers are stepping up, but the need for supporting local values-oriented leaders and inclusive economic growth is urgent.
How can we better support people, communities, and enterprises in crisis situations? How can we harness the power of technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, and diaspora networks to counteract violence, foster peace, support local leaders, and build a foundation for long-term stability, justice, and prosperity?
About the Event
Bloom has been running impact entrepreneurship programs in the Middle East and Africa for 17 years, plus developing tools and software to run more effective programs supporting both organizational growth, skills development, and leadership development. We believe that supporting values-oriented organizations and social enterprise leaders can contribute to developing communities, economies, and governance systems that work for more people, are more inclusive, sustainable and compassionate.
That kind of support is needed now more than ever. The systems that existed prior to the current crises were corrupt, unequal, and unsustainable. Now there's a chance to co-create better systems as we re-build, but this opportunity will fade.
Bloom is working to launch and expand the Hope in Action campaign to expand our support for impact entrepreneurs as we prepare to launch a new cycle of a program in Q1-2025 to support Lebanese, Palestinian, Jordanian, and Syrian social entrepreneurs and local changemakers. That program is small though compared to the level of need, and we're working to mobilize more support to boost our collective impact.
This event highlights the resilience and creativity of social enterprises responding to crisis. Join changemakers, partners, and supporters as we discuss practical ways to collaborate, scale efforts, support recovery, and build more effective systems that can help build the countries, region and world we dream of and that we know is possible.
